This chain of peaks (Main), at 7,708m/25,288ft, is the highest peak in the Hindukush range. The nearby glacier also has the same name (Tirich). The other nearby glaciers are North Barum and Upper and Lower Tricks.

The traditional route to the peak passes through Chitral – Reshun and Khosht-Drassan- Zani pass- Shagram and Shaikh Naik. There is also a shorter route to the extreme. After a two-hour jeep drive on Chitral-Mastuj road, one has to direct from Perpish to Barum village and then through the glacier of the same name (Barum) to the peak. This route is, however, recommended for those who have already acclimatized themselves to high-altitude climbing; otherwise, there is an excellent danger of high-altitude sickness.

Tirich Mir Main Peak was climbed for the first time in 1950 by a Norwegian expedition led by Arne Naess. The other members of the trip included P. Kvern Berg and H. Berg.
The expedition was also accompanied by Professor Hameed Beg of the Karakoram Club (Pakistan), who reached an altitude of over 6,096m/20,000ft, quite a feat in those times. Captain Tony Streather of Chitral Scouts tagged along with the expedition from Drosh and eventually climbed Tirich Mir. Kvernberg was also on the top of the peak.

The first significant attempt by Pakistanis was the Karakoram Club’s expedition to Tirich Mir in 1951. The tour was led by Mian Abdul Rauf and consisted of Daud Beg, Arshad Munir, and Captain Shaukat Malik. It set up three advance camps and reached 6,553m/21,500ft before abandoning the attempt due to a shortage of supplies.

Day 02: Islamabad To Chitral                                                                               

Early morning drive to Chitral, overnight in hotel.

 

Day 03: Chitral To Shagrom                                                                                   

Drive to Shagrom, overnight in camp.

 

Day 04 : Shagrom To Sherniak                                                                             

Trek to Sherniak (3540 meters). 5 to 6 hours walk, overnight in camp.

 

Day 05 to 06 Sherniak To Shogurbaisum                                                         

Trek to Shoghor (Baisum). 6 to 7 hours walk, overnight in camps.

 

Day 07: Shogurbaisum To Tirichmir Base Camp                                           

Trek to Tirich Mir Base Camp (4724 meters). 6 to 7 hours trek, overnight in camp.

 

Day 08 to 34 Climbing                                                                                             

Climbing starts towards the Summit. The length of the climbing period depends on the climber’s weather, fitness, and experience.

 

Day 35 To 36 – Tirich Mir Base Camp to Shagrom                                         

Trek back to Shagrom, overnight in camps.

 

Day 37: Shagrom To Chitral                                                                                   

Drive to Chitral overnight in a hotel.

 

Day 39: Chitral To Islamabad                                                                               

Drive to Islamabad and overnight in a hotel.

 

Day 40: Departure from Islamabad.
